A Small Scare!

Well Tuesday was a scary day for this mama! I went to my routine OB ultrasound and appointment and ended up being admitted and in the hospital most of the day. I had my ultrasound first, RyanPaul was very busy the entire time, kicking and playing. It was fun to see all of his movements. The tech didn't say anything to me about concerns.

I went down to the doctor's office and my blood pressure was high when they took it. I think the girl pumped the cuff maybe 3 times, I was thinking she had it wrong. When Dr.K came in to see me, he was concerned about the high blood pressure reading and told me he was a little concerned about the high amniotic fluid the ultrasound tech found, as well as an issue with RyanPaul's bowel (which he didn't tell me about- probably because I was already crying!) and his head was measuring on the big side.

Dr. K had me lay down and another nurse came in to check my Blood Pressure... she said it was high too. So Dr. K wanted to admit me to be monitored and see the maternal fetal specialist for the high amniotic fluid, bowel issue and his big head.

After being in the room for 5 minutes, my blood pressure was normal! It stayed normal for all the readings they did for the next two hours. All of my blood work came back normal so hypertension was ruled out and Dr.K came by to let me know I could be discharged and go down the hall for my ultrasound with the maternal fetal doctor.

Needless to say, I looked lovely from crying all day and being alone. (Ryan was in Laredo for work this week).

The maternal fetal doctor and his staff were sooooo nice! I think they could tell I was scared to death!

This is when I finally found out that they were concerned about his bowel! Anyway, apparently they thought maybe he had some kind of obstruction in his bowel which was causing me to have high amniotic fluid. Thankfully when the doctor looked he didn't see an obstruction or a reason to be concerned. The measurement was off slightly on his bowel but he didn't feel that the baby or myself was in danger. This was such a relief. He also said he didn't see anything neurologically wrong with his head, he just has a big head.

The bonus was the 4D picture I was able to get of our boy! He looks so precious!

So it was a relief to be sent home after spending the day in the hospital.
I go back on Wednesday to both the maternal fetal specialist and my OB, so please pray that all is well and that nothing has changed.

As of right now, I am scheduled to have him on 1.11.11 at around noon time.
In the meantime, I am taking it easy and trying to rest when I can. It is hard when I know I have so much to do! :)
